Kennel For A Yorkshire Terrier

When choosing a kennel for a Yorkshire Terrier ensure that the size of the kennel allows your dog plenty of room to move about when inside. We suggest our small dog kennel would be suitable kennel for a Yorkshire Terrier.

The Yorkshire Terrier is a small dog breed which originates from Yorkshire in England. It was originally bred to catch rats and mice in the factories, mills and mines at the beginning of the 19th century. They are also known as the abbreviated name Yorkie. Yorkshire Terriers are born black and will develop their distinctive two tone colourings after 12 months. They can live up to 15 years, reaching a height of 17cm and weight up to 7lbs.

It seems that a Yorkshire terrier is unaware of its small stature as it can be very feisty and energetic. They make a lovely companion and will be a wonderful addition to the family if shown the right guidance and training. It is easy to allow them free reign due to their cuteness and size but that is not the best approach to take as it will result in a yappy and hyper dog. Yorkshire terriers like any other dog can be trained but they are stubborn. They do make a great watchdog and are excellent at alerting their owners to approaching visitors or intruders.

Yorkshire terriers shed little to no hair but regular grooming is needed to keep their coat tangle free. Most owners will have their coats clipped to make it easier to manage. Even though it is a small dog it does need regular exercise and outside playtime. They love playing with toys especially squeaky ones. Yorkshire terriers do not tolerate fancy food so stick to dry food recommended for their size. Feed twice a day at regular intervals and do not leave food out continuously as they can become overweight easily.
