Kennel For A Rottweiler

When choosing a kennel for a Rottweiler it is important that your dog will have enough room to move around comfortably inside. We suggest our extra large dog kennel for a Rottweiler. Please check the dimensions of the kennel to ensure you choose the correct sized kennel for your dog.

Rottweilers originated in Southern Germany and gets its name from the town of Rottweil. It was originally bred as a drovers’ dog and a guard dog. Rottweilers were never used as fighting dogs as it is sometimes assumed from their muscular appearance and reputation as a guard dog.

A Rottweiler can live for up to 10 years, weight up to 120lbs and grow to a height of 27inches (at the shoulder).

Despite their strong stature and imposing looks a Rottweiler does indeed make a great companion for an experienced owner. Expert and consistent handling is required from the onset. Rottweilers can make good family pets but for families with older sensible children. They love being part of the family as they crave human contact and attention.

Highly trainable dogs who have served as police and military dogs. They are also used in search and rescue operations and as guide dogs. Rottweiler owners need to be assertive and confident, showing strong leadership when training.

If socialized early Rottie’s will accept other family pets. As Rottweilers like to be dominant they may see other dogs as a threat, especially those of the same sex, and therefore can be aggressive. Again early socializing on a lead will help with this.

Their coat is low maintenance and requires brushing once or twice a week to remove dead hairs and to keep its shine. Rottweilers need plenty of outdoor space and a lot of exercise and stimulation to keep up their physical and most importantly their mental condition. Therefore, it is important that they have lots of dog toys available to them.
