Kennel For A Beagle

When choosing a kennel for a Beagle it is important that your dog will have enough room to move around comfortably inside. We suggest our large dog kennel for a Beagle. Please check the dimensions of the kennel to ensure you choose the correct sized kennel for your dog.

The origins of the Beagle are unclear but it is thought that it was developed from other scent hounds in England during the 16th Century, to hunt hares and rabbits. They are the smallest of the pack hounds and their compact size has endeared them as a companion dog. The most famous Beagle of all time is the cartoon character Snoopy.

The Beagle can live up to 13 years, weight up to 14lbs and reach a height of 16inches (at the shoulder).

Beagles are scent hounds and their amazing talent has been used worldwide to sniff out drugs, explosives and even termites.

These dogs will make a lovely family pet, especially for active families with older children who understand how to handle a dog. Its exuberance and bounciness can mean a Beagle is not suitable for families with toddlers. He loves to be considered part of the family and to be included in all family activities. They are affectionate and loving and will make a wonderful companion. Their friendly disposition means they get on well with other family pets and other dogs in general. As Beagles are stubborn and easily distracted they need patient and consistent training from puppyhood. It is in their nature to sniff out and take off after new scents so teaching recall is of the upmost importance.

The Beagle’s short coat requires little grooming except for brushing twice a week to remove dead hairs. Their ears should be checked regularly and kept clean to avoid infection. Beagles are very energetic dogs who require a large outdoor space and lots of regular exercise and playtime. Thus, the need a good lead and collar and lots of dog toys. They have a tendency to become obese so feeding at regular intervals is recommended and not to overdo the treats.
