The Purpose of The Dog Kennel

Dogs need kennels for many different reasons. Some need a kennel to save them from the unpredictability of our Irish weather. Others need it to have some alone time away from your three-year-old. Dogs also need kennels to have somewhere they feel safe and to call their own. It is important that when choosing a kennel for your dog that you keep its intended purpose in mind as different styles of kennels are meant for different things.

If you are looking for a kennel to give your dog some shelter from the rain one with a plastic flap might be suited. The flap will keep the rain off the dog while still allowing it the freedom of being able to enter and exit the kennel as much as they want.

Similarly, a kennel with a flap may be suitable if you want a kennel to allow your dog to have somewhere private to hide away from the chaos of the house. Your dog will have the freedom to hide away in their kennel as much as they want as they have the liberty of being able to enter and exit whenever they want. This leaves them that they have a safe den that they can use when they need to.

Kennels may also be needed to shut your dog in at night. Whether this is because of the fact that they are a compulsive barker and likes to wake your neighbours at 3am, to prevent him from chasing the post man or prevent him from running away, sometimes it needs to be done. For this purpose, kennels with a door will be best suited. This leaves you the option of being able to close your dog in if needed.

Here at Pets.ie we have a great range of kennels. We stock ones with a door, ones that come with flaps and ones that come with the option of having neither.
