Kennels For Multiple Dogs

Some dogs will love to share their home, others won’t. It is possible to keep two dogs together in the same kennel, but this in any case should be done with extreme caution. Generally it is better for each dog to have their own kennel, but obviously there will be exceptions to this.

Puppies from the same litter or dogs who have been together since they were puppies tend to mind less about sharing a kennel. This is because they are used to each other and know each other really well. They tend to prefer to share a kennel. They may also love to cosy up to each other at night.

But in most cases, dogs need their own space. A kennel should be a place of safety and a place that the dog can call their own. They need a place that they can relax on their own away from the chaos. For this reason, having another dog in the kennel may seem intrusive to the dog. The two dogs could have personality clashes and thus end up falling out altogether. The dogs would be better if they could go about their day being able to play, sleep and relax on their own schedule and not have to link up to the schedule of another dog.

However, what we would recommend is getting two kennels but keeping them near to each other. This allows for the dog to have their own private space, but yet be able to play with the other dog when they want. This way they will always have the company of their friend but their whole life won’t be intruded upon by them. They won’t feel trapped by the other dog as they would if they had to share a kennel.
