A male guinea pig is known as a boar and a female is known as a sow.
Guinea pigs are happy when they purr.
They have constantly growing teeth which means they need to be worn down by eating things like hay.
Guinea pigs are often known as cavies which comes from their scientific name cavia porcellus which is Latin for little pig.
They have 4 toes on their front feet and 3 toes on their back feet.
Guinea pigs live for around 4-8 years.
They have very sensitive ears and hate noise.
Since guinea pigs have high body temperatures they can’t be in any great heat for too long.
Guinea pigs love being petted under their chins.
Guinea pigs have poor vision but then can see all 360 degrees around them
