I’m Lovin’ It: Cow in the Moo-d for McDonald’s

Staff at McDonald’s thought a Big Mac delivery had come in a little prematurely when Darcy the cow presented herself at a U.S branch of the fast food outlet last week.

Workers in the Colorado Drive-Thru were startled to find the bovine peering through their window and butting her head against the glass as though waiting to be served. A few disbelieving phone calls later, they discovered Darcy had hoofed over half a mile from a local farm before arriving at the fast food restaurant.

The cow’s owners, who were unaware she was missing until the police contacted them, seemed unsurprised by her escapades. Unlike Yvonne the fugitive cow, Darcy was not on the run from the abattoir – she’s simply fond of attention. The family have shrugged off the surprise of locals, saying ‘she’d probably go there again if she could get out’.

The Winns have since reassured neighbours that Darcy is not fed on McDonald’s diet, saying she was ‘not making orders. Maybe visiting relatives but not making orders.’

Hotel’s Resident Sea Lion Lounges by the Pool

Here’s the explanation behind this delightful photo, according to Animal Advocacy:

“Some time ago Panchita was caught up in a net, which left deep cuts all over her body. She managed to make it to this hotel where animal advocates nursed her back to health for 3 months. Every day she returns to rest after being out to sea. She is now pregnant and expecting within a month.”

Michigan Woman Terrorised by Tyrannical Turkey

Nicknamed Godzilla, this belligerent bird lurks outside 69 year-old Edna Geisler’s Detroit home every day.

The 25 pound wild turkey seems to think that her yard is his territory and has almost made Edna a prisoner in her own home. Should she dare leave the house between 7am and 7pm, she will find the mature tom waiting to chase and attack her, before he returns to a nearby wood for the night.

This news report shows Geisler’s daily plight and ends with her ominous and dejected summation that “he isn’t going to stop”.

Godzilla is not the first aggressive wild turkey to hit the headlines in recent times – Edna’s story is reminiscent of an American news anchor’s comical run-in with Terrible Tom.

Baby Sloths Swaddled in Little Pyjamas

What do you do if a baby sloth gets mange? Why, shave it, smear it in a lard and sulphur based ointment, then dress it up in a tiny onesie of course! The workers at Costa Rica’s Sloth Sanctuary have developed this treatment to do away with dangerous parasites – the lotion soothes the skin and suffocates creepy-crawlies, while the PJ’s prevent it from being licked off. Plus they look super cute.

Adorable Ground Squirrels Photographed on their First Time Outside

These tiny Round-tailed Ground Squirrels were pictured on their first excursion out of their subterranean homes by photographer Eirini Pajak, in Florence, Arizona.

Pajak says that the little cuties were just getting to grips with life: “They were not exactly graceful as they were just learning to stand so they would often fall over in clumsiness.”

Highly sociable animals, they got up to mischief on their outing by wrestling and play-fighting.

They haven’t been left to fend for themselves just yet – their mother will poke her head out of the hole to check for predators before allowing them to come out for some tasty grass. Here we see her supervising their playtime.

The skinny, bug-eyed critters only weigh a teeny 0.14 oz at birth.
