Thanks Pets.ie

Rodney“Many thanks for your website and allowing us to advertise the beautiful black spaniel that we found.  Rodney was happily reunited with his owner this evening having been missing since last Tuesday. “ Deirdre and Michelle

It’s great to hear a success story such as Rodney’s. We appreciate all your comments and support and we hope that members of the public and animal shelters alike will continue to use our lost and found service to help reunite animals with their deserved loving homes.

Lost and Found Maps

lost & found pets

We have just finished rolling out our lost and found animals map search. This unique and very helpful feature will make searching for and locating lost animals easier then ever before!

Currently, on Pets.ie, all lost and found ads allow advertisers to mark exactly where, on a street, they last saw or found an animal. Pets.ie have taken all these locations and placed them on a single map of Ireland which users can view and navigate around.

To make searching even easier, we have also included filters which allow you to display a map of your area while only showing ( for example ) “lost dogs” or “found cats”.

At this point I think it makes more sense to show you exactly what I’m talking about. See the lost and found animals map of Ireland, all the dogs lost in Dublin and all cats found in Cork.

100 and counting

We had our one hundredth ad placed on the site today.

Not a lot of ads I hear you say and you’d be right but this figure assures us that the site is working smoothly and people are finding it easy to upload their ads.

We would love to get some feedback from our users and would welcome your comments on the website.

Welcome

This is our first post and hopefully the first of many.

I’m very excited about the new website. While the site only went live this August, we have been working on the Pets.ie concept since November 2008. For the last 10 months we have been researching and developing this new service to ensure that Pets.ie is the most helpful and easy-to-use website of its kind in Ireland.

There are two main sections on the website; Pets For Homes and Lost & Found Pets. The Pets For Homes section lists animals in need of homing or re-homing. This section also includes ads from people who are looking to home a new pet, therefore making it easier for pets to find a good home. All listings include a description and photos of each animal. This is important help the potential pet owner decide if the animal is suitable for them.

The second section, Lost & Found, lists pets that have been lost and found. As well as being able to include a description and photos of the animal, users have ability to place exactly on a map where they last saw or found the animal. By narrowing down the location of the animal to the actual street Pets.ie makes the job of reuniting a lost animal with their owners easier then EVER before.

And there’s more to come! We are currently working on some additional features to improve the site even further. So do check back to see how the site is coming along. In the mean time we would appreciate your comments and/or suggestions about the website and we look forward to helping Irish pets find happy homes.
