Missing Cat Finds Way Home after Four Weeks

Felix catWe were recently contacted by Michael, a relieved pet owner from Dublin who had been reunited with his cat Felix. The black and white tom had been missing without a trace for four weeks. His owners were delighted when he managed to somehow find his own way home and wished to empathise with anyone going through the strain of having a missing pet. Sadly Felix had lost a lot of weight and was badly injured – it was determined that he would have to have one of his back legs amputated.

It’s been over a week since the operation and Michael says that Felix is still not fully back to himself. He’s been sleeping more than usual and appears to be quite nervous and withdrawn a lot of the time – but everyone is grateful to have him back.

Felix’s story goes to show that lost pets can indeed find their own way home after an ordeal, and perhaps offers a little bit of hope to any owners out there who are still waiting for their animal’s return.

There are a number of ways to ease the distressing process of finding a lost pet. The ISPCA provides useful information on microchipping, which is very much recommended to prevent the theft and the loss of pets. Should your pet ever go astray or if you come across a lost animal, please don’t hesitate to place a free ad here.

We’d love to hear if any of our readers have been reunited with their lost pets. Please share any success stories with us below or on our Facebook page.

Cork family hoping to find lost dog online

sudsA family from Riverstick, Co. Cork is hoping that an online campaign will re-unite them with their lost dog ‘Suds’. Suds is a 10 year old female Yorkshire terrier and has been missing since Saturday May 1st.  A similar online campaign saw the safe return of Mac, a 2 year old Jack Russell, to his family in Bray Co. Wicklow.

The family in Cork are desperate to see Suds home safe and have exhausted all ‘offline’ efforts.  They have contacted local animal shelters, put up posters, visited local schools and the Gardai in an effort to spread the news about their lost dog.

After hearing about Mac’s successful online campaign, Suds’ family followed suit and set up a webpage where updates, pictures and sightings can be posted about Suds.  Suds even has her very own Facebook page.  Pets.ie hopes they will have a similar happy ending to Mac’s family in Bray.

Lost and Found Maps

lost & found pets

We have just finished rolling out our lost and found animals map search. This unique and very helpful feature will make searching for and locating lost animals easier then ever before!

Currently, on Pets.ie, all lost and found ads allow advertisers to mark exactly where, on a street, they last saw or found an animal. Pets.ie have taken all these locations and placed them on a single map of Ireland which users can view and navigate around.

To make searching even easier, we have also included filters which allow you to display a map of your area while only showing ( for example ) “lost dogs” or “found cats”.

At this point I think it makes more sense to show you exactly what I’m talking about. See the lost and found animals map of Ireland, all the dogs lost in Dublin and all cats found in Cork.
