Dublin zoo was yesterday pleased to finally announce the sex of their newborn gorilla. The baby boy had been held so tightly by its proud mum that zoo-keepers were unable to determine his gender.
Two weeks after his birth, mother Lena has only recently begun to loosen her tight grip over him just long enough for their minders to see that he is a boy. The story has tugged at the heartstrings of the public who have flocked to the zoo to see the western lowland gorilla family.
The next task of the zoo is to find a name for him based on his West African roots. Members of the public can submit their ideas via Facebook or at the zoo’s Learning and Discovery Centre.
What do you think the little guy should be called? We’d love to hear some of your ideas below.

he should be called Maximus
His name should be ‘Louis’, for no reason other than it suits him, he is the cutest gorilla ever.
