Gardai are investigating an incident at a Dublin hotel where a kangaroo was set loose at a 30th birthday party and is thought to have died as a result.
The animal, thought to be either a baby kangaroo or a wallaby was reported to have been a gift for the man whose party it was and was smuggled into the Clarion Hotel in Liffey Valley by party guests on Saturday night.
Speaking on RTÉ’s Morning Ireland, Orla Aungier, Operations Manager for the DSPCA said the society is concerned following reports that the kangaroo died several hours after the incident.
“We know that the animal was videoed and you can imagine the fear and stress it must have felt. It is completely unacceptable that an animal would be used in this way” she said. The said the DSPCA have passed on any information it has received to the Gardaí and both are investigating the incident.

I think this is a serious crime and they should be punished, the poor little fella how come there is so many cruel people in the world!!!!!!!

I really hope they get the culprits!! Everyone at that party is involved in some way or another & you know who you are so do the right thing and give yourself & that “person” who brought the animal in up!!! I really can’t fathom what is going on in people’s minds!!

I read this story today in the paper. Just unthinkable that anyone could treat an animal this way. The story is around the world accompanied by video footage. They must think we are all drunken scum in Australia. And all the revellers that were at the party are not cooperating with the Gardai?? Speaks volumes as to the quailty of clientele that attended. So it’ll just go down as another report of a despicable act of animal cruelty that Ireland is fast becoming known for.
Anyone who witnessed that kangaroo at the party is responsible for what happened to it. Watching something take place and doing nothing about it makes them as bad as the person/people who stupidly smuggled a frightened defenceless animal into a party and caused his death. If you have any morals or conscience do the right thing and report those who thought it would be ‘funny’ to torture an inocent kangaroo, because thats what they did by putting him ini that party. Shame on all of you!!!!!!
I love animals and i cant understand how some c***ts can b so cruel! Its rotten! I cant see how anyone cud find it one bit funny, i hope the shitheads get what they deserve! How could some of those people at that party stay and watch that crap! I mean like, their just as bad. Their all just a big disgrace to Ireland!! And I hope the rest of their life is MISERY!!!!!
why hasnt this man been named?? what has happened to him? the authorithies know who he is.. and so he should be named and put in prison!
