Fashion Designer Alexander McQueen Leaves £50,000 to Dogs

Alexander McQueen, the London fashion designer who tragically died early last year, left £50,000 to his pets.

Released on Tuesday, details of his will show that he wanted the sum to go towards his dogs Minter, Callum and Juice. The money will ensure that the three will remain well-looked after and pampered.

The daring designer’s love for his pets was well-documented. In a 2009 interview he said “My dogs are the only thing in the world I really trust.” McQueen struggled with depression and, overcome with grief, took his own life in February 2010 following his mother’s death. The brief note to his family urged them to look after his dogs.

Devoted animal lover McQueen also left £100,000 to both the Battersea Dogs and Cat Home and animal welfare charity, the UK Blue Cross.

The three dogs’ fortune pales in comparison to that of Trouble, the dearly-loved Maltese of hotel tycoon Leona Helmsley. The billionaire left $12 million to her pet and wished for him to be buried beside her. The sum was later reduced to $2 million by a judge.
